Thing 4

RSS-certainly makes keeping up with current information easier. And can also be tremendously time-consuming. So much out there, it's overwhelming! (Does RSS make things simply "whelming"?)

Thing 3

I prefer Google Blog Search and Blog Pulse for searching blogs. They seem more straight-forward, without alot of distracting stuff. They came up with more relevant search results than Technorati and seemed easier to use.

Thing 2

There is so much information, opinions, and thoughts on what Library 2.0 is and how important it is that we all keep up with the ever-changing face of technology and keep (or make) our libraries more relevant and user-friendly. I whole-heartedly agree that libraries are and/or must remain dynamic places for access to information and social interaction within communities. How that happens seems to manifest according to the individual library and the community it serves. For our(newly expanded) medium branch our service to our patronage is evolving, as is our patronage itself.
Learning these 23 things will serve to provide all of us the experience and knowledge that will probably be useful to our patrons in the near future. Right now, many of our patrons are happy if staff will "do all the work" for them and are just beginning to see how being able to navigate in our catalog for finding and placing materials on hold for themselves is actually gratifying (and simple to do.) Yet, being informed and experienced in the current tech way of social networking is certainly beneficial, if not imperative for library staff.

Second Try

I had to create a new email account and new blog because I was away for the past three weeks or so and forgot my username and password (and the little post-it notes just disappeared!) Trying to get that info was quite a circular experience. I just finally gave up.
Now I get to catch up. My co-workers are all way ahead, but that can be a good thing esp. when I need help with any one (or all, most likely) of the 23 things.
